Kang Ji-young

She attended Bongilcheon Middle School,Muhak Women's High School. She eventually graduated in February 2012 and currently attends Sungkyunkwan University's Department of Acting Arts. Kang Ji-young was born on January 18, 1994, in Paju, Republic of Korea. She debuted at the age of 15 as a third grade middle school student. She is one of the 2 members that joined after member Kim Sung Hee left. She sang Girls' Generation's song "Kissing You" for her audition. Kang is the cousin of the Korean pop singer NS Yoon-G.






Ji Young is a Korean Pop singer. She is currently the maknae (youngest member) of the girl group KARA. She is one of the 2 members that joined, after member Kim Sung Hee left. She is also a member of the one-time unit Mystic WHITE.Kang Ji Young was originally slated to have a supporting role as an NSS agent in the spy thriller drama. The drama’s production is now looking to find a replacement, with conflicting reports saying a k-ara member is up for the part.

Nicole Jung

Nicole was into the visual and performing arts while in school. She participated in choir, drill team, played the violin for 4 years and took dance classes. She auditioned for DSP by sending a video of her singing an Ivy and Black Eyed Peas song. Her mom was very supportive and told her that it was her decision and whatever decision, she would fully support her. Nicole made the decision to go to South Korea and experienced hardships such as adjusting to the culture and missing her friends terribly.





Nicole was born on October 7, 1991 in Los Angeles, California to Korean parents. She attended Mark Keppel Elementary School and Toll Middle School in Glendale, California; however, she lived in downtown Los Angeles. She accepted DSP's offer, her mom moved with her to South Korea and has opened up a successful Korean BBQ restaurant called "Aura The Grill" that is often frequented by Nicole and KARA fans alike.

Goo Ha-ra

She was also an online shopping mall model, having been scouted after her photos were uploaded onto DSP's homepage. Thus, Goo Hara became a member of Kara. She is currently is attending at Sungshin Women's University. On January 5, 2010, during an appearance at SBS' Strong Heart she admitted to getting minor cosmetic and dental surgery on her face. She confessed to receiving one filler injection on her nose and had her teeth fixed. She stated that she had always had double eyelids, but had surgery to get them more defined.





On June 28, 2011, Cube Entertainment announced that Hara and Junhyung from Beast are in a relationship. DSP Media also announced; “They do have good feelings towards one another, but they’re still getting to know each other." March 27th, 2013 saw the end of their relationship, as Cube Entertainment and DSP Media announced that they "naturally drifted apart".

Han Seung-yeon

she withdrew from high school mid-course in order to pursue a singing career. After returning to South Korea, she debuted as a singer on March 29, 2007, as a member of the girl group Kara along with Park Gyuri, Jung Nicole and Kim Sunghee. During her time with the group, she passed a high school qualification exam, the College Scholastic Ability Test, and was accepted by Kyung Hee University, majoring in Theater and Film.




Kara debuted as a quartet on M! Countdown in March 2007 with their debut single "Break It" from their first studio album entitled The First Blooming. In early 2008, however, member Kim Sunghee left the group due to parental pressure. She was eventually replaced by Goo Hara and Kang Jiyoung, and the group made their comeback as a quintet with "Rock U" in July 2008.

Park Gyu-ri

She's the one who came up with the name Kara which comes from the Greek Word "chara" which interpreted to mean "sweet melody". Prior to her singing career, she was a child actress. Her first appearance was on Today is a Nice Day in 1995 where she played the girlfriend of Kang Ho Dong's brother. She later appeared as the teenage version of Kim Jung Eun's character in Ladies of the Palace in 2001. She is the only daughter of popular voice dubber Park Sohyun.





As the lead role in new drama, 'Nail Shop Paris,' Gyuri received two months of professional training in manicure and nail art. In the training process, Gyuri showed tremendous talent in acryl design which prompted her professional teacher to say that she is ready to take it to the next level and even obtain a professional license.

Son Dong-woon

Dong Woon is known for his more Western look compared to the other members. He also has various talents such as speaking English and Chinese as well as playing the piano and electric flute. Dong Woon attended High School Hanyoung and currently attends Konkuk University majoring in image and film. Son Dong-Woon was born in Seoul, South Korea on June 6th, 1991. Dong Woon's father, Son Il-rak, is a professor at Cheongju University.





Professor Son Il Rak, the father of Beast member Son Dongwoon published a book titled ‘Letters To My Son’. Recently during a media interview, Professor Son said, ‘ I published a book called Letters To My Son, its content is about living skills for the future and how to live in harmony with the other members.’ Dong Woon stated in an interview and in the KBS show Win Win that he studied in Santa Rosa, Laguna, Philippines. Dong Woon was a trainee from JYP Entertainment for 2 years, and was the last member chosen to join BEAST. He is the maknae (youngest) of the group.

Lee Gi-kwang

Lee Gi-kwang was born on March 30, 1990 in Naju, South Korea. Gi-kwang found interest in hip hop and had particular liking to many classic hip hop acts. He was backed by his family to pursue a musical career and for a record company debuted under the stage name 'AJ'. He was known as the solo singer AJ or Ace Junior when he first debuted and released a mini-album "First Episode: A New Hero” on April 4, 2009. He met controversies when his name created dispute netizens for having a similar name with Paran’s AJ (Later became the new U-KISS member). He now goes with his original name when he redebuted with Beast. He debuted as an actor through High Kick Through the Roof and was also cast in a role for My Princess. He also became an MC for different shows such as Hot Brothers





The name "AJ", which is common not only in Korea but also overseas, has created disputes netizens since many expressed their dissatisfaction over him having the same name as Paran's AJ. Cube Entertainment responded by saying that AJ’s name is different from that of Paran AJ’s for his (Cube's AJ) name is short for ‘Ace Junior’. The company later announced that he would continue activities under a different name, but no changes were made until it was revealed that AJ would no longer continue activities, as he will have been preparing to debut as a member of Beast. Since the group's debut, he is known as Gi Kwang, or Kikwang.
